Solar-Powered Stays
As of April 2026, Station House Inn has been powered in part by solar energy, helping reduce our environmental footprint while supporting a cleaner future for Lake Tahoe.
By investing in renewable energy, we’re working to lessen our reliance on traditional power sources. Plus, it helps us operate more responsibly in one of the country’s most beautiful natural destinations.
The initiative is part of a broader sustainability effort across PlayPark Hospitality properties. In particular, it builds on the success of a similar solar installation at sister property HiMark Hotel, which has already offset over 115,000 pounds of CO₂ emissions.
REDUCING WASTE
Thoughtful Alternatives to Single-Use Plastic
Protecting Lake Tahoe starts with everyday choices. Throughout the property, we’ve taken steps to reduce unnecessary waste and create a more sustainable guest experience for travelers visiting hotels in South Lake Tahoe.
Our efforts include:
-Refillable water station in the lobby
-Non single-use shampoo, conditioner, and bath amenities in guest rooms
-Foldable coffee cups in the lobby designed to reduce disposable plastic lids
-Ongoing efforts to reduce single-use plastics across the property

Powered by an Artesian Well
Unlike many hotels in South Lake Tahoe, Station House Inn operates on its own artesian well system. This well provides our Tahoe hotel with naturally sourced water directly from beneath the Sierra landscape.
Tahoe’s water is known for being some of the purest and best-tasting in the world. Our artesian well allows guests to experience that exceptional quality firsthand throughout their stay.
It’s one more way we stay connected to the environment around us while offering a uniquely Tahoe experience rooted in the local landscape itself.
